School “Sint Maarten” - Molenbeek

School “Sint Maarten” - Molenbeek
Surface
144 m²
Construction time
3 weeks

The Corona period brought with it many unprecedented problems, including many material shortages. Sint-Maarten primary school in Molenbeek can also contribute to this. Their new building continued to be delayed and they were forced to find alternative solutions for the new school year.

The new school building at Sint Maarten primary school in Molenbeek was under construction when Corona hit. Subsequently, the shipyard was delayed after delay. With the new school year around the corner, the school board was forced to look for an alternative solution that could cope with the loss of classrooms. Thanks to an earlier collaboration, the school came (back) to Symobo.

Due to the short deadline, the production of new modules was not a solution. Using older modules seemed to be the best solution for the school. This also reduced the unforeseen costs of the school. Symobo converted old retirement home rooms into brand-new classrooms. The old rooms were stripped to the frame and then rebuilt in the layout of classrooms in just under 3 weeks.

We are building 4 classrooms, 1 multipurpose room and a vestary.

This project in a nutshell:

  • Several buildings with a total area of 144m²
  • 1 storey
  • Multipurpose space
  • 4 classes
  • The building was built 100% from renovated modules
  • 2 floors of 250 m².
  • Classes equipped with an efficient ventilation system assisted by heating with heat pumps for a healthy indoor climate.
  • Super insulated
  • LED lighting throughout the building
