Extra classroom space, fully realized from A to Z

For KOBA in the Turnhout region, Symobo realized a two-story modular school building. By making optimal use of the available space on the site, we were able to create four full-fledged classrooms without the school having to initiate a traditional, long-term construction project.

The building consists of two classrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor, connected by a central circulation zone and an external staircase. This creates a compact and logical unit that makes maximum use of the available surface area.

‍

More than just placing modules

At Symobo, a project doesn't stop when the modules are in place. We take care of the entire process: from preparation and earthworks to foundations, transport, placement, assembly, and final finishing.

We also include the area surrounding the building in the total project. This includes laying paths, tiling, creating access points, and connecting the building to the existing school site.

For the school, this means having one partner who coordinates the entire project, from the initial plan to a finished learning environment that is ready for use.

‍

Comfort for students and teachers

Inside, the choice was made for light, spacious classrooms with all the necessary technology for a pleasant school day. Heating, cooling, ventilation, and lighting were integrated so that the rooms are not only quickly available but also function comfortably and with the future in mind.

Architecturally, the various modules also form a cohesive whole. The dark cladding and uniform window openings give the building a calm, sleek appearance, making it feel much more like a permanent school building than separate modules.

‍

Working together towards a more sustainable school environment

Modular construction makes it possible to approach space differently. Buildings can be adapted, expanded, relocated, or repurposed when a school's needs change.

In this way, we not only help schools quickly obtain extra space, but we also guide them step-by-step towards a more sustainable and flexible school environment.
