Blokbos Primary School - Beersel

Blokbos Primary School - Beersel
Surface
666 m²
Construction time
2 months

Your school building needs to be renewed, but you can't close your school for months while you (re) build, right? In this situation, the Blokbos municipal primary school will be in Beersel. Symobo came up with the solution to install a temporary modular school on the current playground

The municipal primary school building urgently needed a refresh and a welcome into the 21st century. The city council therefore decided to demolish a large part of the old school building and replace it with a completely new one. But what about the classes that would disappear during this period? The school had to find a way to make up for the temporary shortage of space. Symobo won the public tender and installed a fully modular school building with 8 classes (37 units) in 2 months. In addition, we also install 2 sanitary units, 1 of which is also wheelchair-friendly.

Due to the rising cost of construction materials and fuel prices in 2022, we were able to stay on the proposed budget by switching from completely new units to circular units that we were able to reuse from a school in Sint-Stevens-Woluwe. Creative thinking that brought nothing but benefits to both us and the customer.

This project in a nutshell:

  • A building with an area of more than 500 square meters
  • 2 storeys
  • 8 classes and a CLB class
  • 2 toilets
  • The building was built as compact as possible and was 90% prefabricated in the factory.
  • 2 floors of +250 m2.
  • Classes equipped with an efficient ventilation system assisted by heating with heat pumps for a healthy indoor climate.
  • Super insulated
  • LED lighting throughout the building
